About Melbourne, Australia:
Victoria's capital, Melbourne, sits on the Yarra River and around the shores of Port Phillip Bay. Lauded as the cultural capitol of Australia, Melbourne boasts glamorous festivals and events, Australia's best shopping, a lively passion for eating and drinking, and a flourishing interest in the arts. Visitors to Melbourne marvel at the city's dramatic mix of cutting-edge architecture and grand Victorian era buildings, built from the riches of the city's 19th century Goldrush, while beautiful parks and botanic gardens provide for the perfect urban 'walkabout.'

Melbourne hosts an exciting year-round calendar of international events and festivals, including the Australian Open "Grand Slam" tennis tournament, The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the Melbourne International Food & Wine Festival, the Melbourne International Arts Festival and the Melbourne Cup, the "race that stops the nation." And in November 2011, The Presidents Cup returns to Melbourne at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, the premier course of Melbourne's famed Sandbelt golf region.

About The Presidents Cup:
The Presidents Cup is a team match play competition featuring 24 of the world’s top golfers – 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe – and is held every two years and since 1996 has alternated between United States and international venues. The Presidents Cup was developed to give the world’s best non-European players an opportunity to compete in international team match-play competition. The U.S. Team has won six of the eight previous Presidents Cups, and the only outright win by the International Team came at the 1998 event here in Melbourne.More than $4.2 million was distributed to charitable causes from the 2009 Presidents Cup, a record-tying amount for this prestigious competition and part of the nearly $22 million raised since the inception of the event. The event is extremely unique as the players are not personally paid for their participation in the event as there is no purse or prize money. Each competitor, instead, designates charities or golf-related projects of his choice to receive a portion of the funds raised through the staging of each Presidents Cup.
